Frequently asked questions - answered quickly and reliably

The TDT devices have the "factory default" IP address 192.168.0.50, the user is root and the password is on the bottom of the device.

In addition, IP addresses are provided via DHCP at the LAN interfaces in the standard configuration. The range is set from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.250.

ParameterValue
IP address192.168.0.50
DNS nametdt.router and the device name.lan (e.g. vr2020-ld.lan or g3000-lw.lan)
usernameroot
PasswordThis can be found on the bottom of the device.

Attention

  • On delivery, each device has an individual password, which can be found on the nameplate.
  • However, it is strongly recommended that you assign an individual password before starting a configuration.
  • Please make a note of the password before installation so that you can continue to access the device after restoring the factory settings.
  • If no password is printed, the password corresponds to the serial number.

As long as the password has not been changed, a warning appears in the Web interface with a link to the System > Administration page, where a new password can be set.

The password is entered here and repeated as confirmation. Finally, the new password is accepted with Save & Apply.

A password change is initiated via an SSH session or via the micro-USB configuration port by calling the passwd command.

Example:

root@hostname:~# passwd
Changing password for root
New password:
Retype password:
Password for root changed by root

To access the Web interface of the TDT device via a browser, enter the IP address of the router in the address bar. On delivery, the IP address of lan is set to 192.168.0.50. However, the router also has the name tdt.router or device name.lan (e.g. vr2020-ld.lan or g3000-lw.lan).

As the Web interface can only be accessed via SSL, the IP address must be preceded by https://.

Example: tdt.router
or 192.168.0.50

In the login window that now appears, authenticate yourself with the user name root and the corresponding password.

The password can be found on the bottom of the device when it is delivered.
If no password is printed, the password corresponds to the serial number.

    Attention

    • It is strongly recommended to set the password before starting a configuration.

    For SSH access, for example, open PuTTY, enter the IP of the router under Host Name (or IP address) and click on the Open button. In the newly opened window, log in to the system with the user name root and the corresponding password.

    By default, the password corresponds to the serial number.

    In a Linux environment, access can be made directly via the terminal using the command ssh root@192.168.0.50.

    A terminal programme is required for serial access to the router. The connection can also be realised via PuTTY.

    • For a router with a micro USB console port (console), such as the VR202x, first connect the router to the computer using a micro USB cable. The driver for the USB serial port should then be installed automatically.
      To find out which COM port is being used, you can go to the Device Manager in Windows. A USB serial port should appear here after successful installation.

    • If the device has a Sub-D9 RS232 configuration interface as a console, a null modem cable (not included in the scope of delivery) is required for direct connection to a PC. The connection is established directly with the serial interface of the PC.

    The following table shows the values that must be configured in the terminal programme in addition to the COM port for the serial interface.

    ParameterValue
    Speed (baud)115200
    Data bits8
    Stop bits1
    ParityNone
    Flow controlNone

    To get the login prompt, press the enter key ↵ once. You can then log in to the system with the user root and the corresponding password.

    The reset button can be used to trigger the following actions depending on how long it is pressed.

    Reset button
    Press briefly (<1 second)Restarts the router.
    Long press (>5 seconds)Resets the device to the factory settings.

    Why is it not possible to dial 4-digit telephone numbers to the same local network without an area code?

    As the internal dialling plan numbers go up to 9999, the system tries to set up the number internally - as this number probably does not exist, the call fails. By dialling the area code, the system knows that this number should be routed externally.

    Solution: Under Advanced settings/General settings, tick "Area code for 4-digit numbers".

    No entries can be made on the phone to control voice menus or no key tones can be heard. What can I do?

    Log in to the web interface as an administrator and switch to the "Terminals" > "Extensions" menu. Edit the extension of your telephone, expand the parameters with the + sign and change the value "Dtmfmode" to "inband". Then accept the configuration. Control via key tones should now work.

    How can messages from an answering machine be displayed on the telephones (MWI)?

    Enter the answering machine number of your answering machine in the "Answering machine number" field of the extension.

    How can the sender number be set for an extension?

    Edit the extension and enter the desired number(s) in the "Sender number" field. If the extension does not have an originator number, the originator number of the line used is transmitted.

    Can I assign several extensions to a telephone using auto-provisioning?

    To assign several extensions to an end device using auto-provisioning, manual settings can be entered in the telephone templates.
    To do this, go to Advanced settings/Phone templates and edit the template for the desired extension or create a template.
    Then enter the relevant parameters under Extended template.

    Example Yealink T48s

    account.1.password = Password (of the extension)
    account.1.auth_name = user name (of the extension)
    account.1.blf.subscribe_period = 60
    account.1.cid_source = 4
    account.1.codec.pcma.priority = 1
    account.1.codec.g722.priority = 2
    account.1.display_name = Yealink T48s (Displayed name of the extension)
    account.1.dtmf.type = 0
    account.1.enable = 1
    account.1.label = Line name (Displayed name for the account)
    account.1.sip_server.1.address = 192.168.168.1 (IP address of the VA1000)
    account.1.user_name = User name (of the extension)

    If a subscriber makes a call with the pick-up code "*8", does he not see the caller's number on the display?

    First activate the "General context" module (Users and rights) for the "admin" user in the Users and rights module. Now open the "Advanced settings" > "General context" module and enter "sendrpid" in the Key field and "pai" in the Value field. After sending and accepting the configuration, the phone number is displayed via pickup.

    When I want to listen to the messages, the following message appears: Welcome to your Voicemail system, please select a mailbox. Is there a way that I can access my mailbox directly?

    Yes, there is - the answering machine number must be identical to the extension number. If this is the case, enter the value "voicemail" in the Web interface of the snom telephone under Identity 1 > Login > Answering machine. You should then be taken directly to the voicemail system by pressing the message key on the phone.
